A Public Hearing of the Eisenhower Public Library District Board of Trustees November 17, 2016

President Braun called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Present Magnelli, Braun, Rothbart, Sticha, Magnuson, Ross, Ringelstein (7:37 P.M.).
Absent None.
Present: Wittmann, Bacarella, Stam, V. Bitters, McPhillips, Tomzik, Blubaugh, Sciaccotta, Christine Meczynski, Lucille Meczynski, Daisy Ann Rubino, Arlene Jager, Sandra Chmielewski, Pat Carbone, M. Carbone, Joan White, Helen Schneider.

Recognition of Visitors:
President Braun recognized the visitors. Joan White made a statement regarding the tax levy. She advised that they are very upset that their taxes are going up. Ms. White wants to know why we are raising the taxes. Director Wittmann advised that we never get the percentage of what we ask for. We usually only get a cost of living increase, which is about 1-2%.

This Public Hearing is being held to approve a proposed increase in the property tax levy for the Eisenhower Public Library District, Cook County, Illinois, for the year 2016 and to give all persons desiring to be heard a chance to present testimony, in compliance with the Truth in Taxation Act. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2015 were $4,075,088.69. The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2016 are $4,330,270.00. This represents a 6.26198% increase over the previous year.

Trustee Ross moved, seconded by Trustee Sticha, THAT THE PUBLIC HEARING BE ADJOURNED. A voice vote was taken and the motion carried unanimously.

The Public Hearing was adjourned at 7:42 P.M.
