Libros Lege 2008
Libros Lege Read-Aloud Contest. Choose books to read from the following list of Polish Literature available at Eisenhower Public Library. More information can be found in Polish at the Warsaw Public Library and at Polski Radio 1030 WNVR.
The Libros Lege prize is very attractive - 5 people for a weekly excursion to Poland, to Warsaw City and the Mazovia Woyvodship (it is like Chicago City and the state of Illinois), meetings with Polish patrons and presenting their interpretation in 1 or 2 public libraries. The idea behind the Contest is to promote culture and knowledge of other nations, therefore the English reading winners shall stay preferably with the families of the Polish winners.
Libros Lege awarding shall take place on May 3rd in the Millennium Park, during the concert. The organizer of the concert is The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago. Mr. Pawel PIETRASIENSKI - the Polish Consul in Chicago phone nr. (312) 337-8166 ext. 218 has details about the venue (it is probably the Jay Pritzker Pavilion).
The concert is part of Warsaw Days in Chicago. On 3rd of May 1791 the first Polish Constitution was enacted. It was the first in Europe and second in the World (after the American one from 1787) modern constitution.
The LL also has visual identification - the Logo and the poster. The poster is the artistic photograph of an oil picture on canvas painted by a well known Polish artist MARLENA NIZIO, especially for the LL.
