Computers with Internet access and computers with Microsoft Office 2007 are available on a "first come, first served" basis. Eisenhower Public Library District residents must use their library cards to access computers. We have 20 Internet-accessible computers for adults to use for 1 hour at a time. The computers with Microsoft Office 2007 (without Internet) are available for 2 hours at a time. Visitors without Eisenhower Library cards are invited to see a staff member at either the Welcome or Answers desk to find out how they can use a computer. We also have 8 computers located in Kids World for children in 5th grade and younger to use. Young people in the 6th grade and older may use the computers for adults. Please see a staff member at the Ask Me desk in Kids World to find out how to use a computer.

We also have a wireless network in the building. Users can access the Internet through their own wireless-enabled devices. Please see a staff member at any service desk to find out how to use the wireless network.

We recommend that all users read our Internet Use Policy prior to logging on or allowing their children to log on.

Internet Use Policy

Statement
In keeping with our Mission Statement to actively provide reference service to community residents of all ages, using Eisenhower Public Library's entire collection and all appropriate sources, we believe access to the Internet is important to the community.

About The Internet
The Internet is a global network of computer systems providing access to vast amounts of information. By navigating through the World Wide Web users will be able to participate in a worldwide exchange of information. The Internet is an ever-changing forum of information and a wide variety of ideas may be expressed. The Library does not and cannot control the content obtained from sources via the Internet. Users must keep the following points in mind when evaluating information obtained from the Internet:

  1. Information may not be accurate or current.
  2. Information may not be valid or reliable.
  3. Access to various sites is often unpredictable and availability may be uncertain.
  4. Certain information may be considered offensive, inappropriate, or controversial by some users.
  5. Some sites only exist for commercial purposes.
We urge users to be informed and to carefully evaluate information obtained from the Internet. The Library is not responsible for damages, indirect or direct, arising from a patron's use of Internet information resources.

Illegal acts involving computer resources may be subject to prosecution by local, state, or federal authorities.

The library pays a set fee for connection to the Internet. This fee does not include equipment or supplies (paper and ink cartridges). The library reserves the right to charge any fees it deems appropriate related to Internet use.

We firmly believe that the potential value of information available through the Internet far outweighs the possibility that users may come across material that is inconsistent with the goals of the Library.
