Literary Lovers: A Reader's Theatre Presentation

December 9th,
2:00pm to 3:30pm
Get a peek into the relationships of three pairs of acclaimed authors: Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Dashiell Hammett and Lillian Hellman, and Dorothy Thompson and Sinclair Lewis. Annette Baldwin compiled and edited these stories from the authors' diaries, letters, and journals, providing insight into how the work of these writers was imbued with the experiences they shared with the object of their affections. 

Registration begins November 5 for Norridge and Harwood Heights patrons with valid library cards. All others may register beginning November 12.

Mysterious Myanmar

Brian Michalski had no idea where Myanmar (formerly Burma) was on the map before leaving on his 22 month solo backpacking journey around the world. It ended up a surprise favorite due to its untouched natural beauty, rich history, charmingly simple infrastructure, creative cuisine and generosity of locals.

After Hours Teen Time: Wonder Woman

We're keeping the library open after hours just for teens. Bring your friends, to watch a movie, eat some pizza, and make a craft.

This month watch Amazonian Princess Diana win World War One, then make magic wristbands with artist Jessica Van Swol.

After Hours Teen Time: Maleficent

We're keeping the library open after hours just for teens. Bring your friends, to watch a movie, eat some pizza, and make a craft.

This month get the villain's side of the story with Maleficent, then make a dragon scale mug with artist Jessica Van Swol.

Keys to Organic Gardening Success

Before starting a successful business within the food movement, Jeanne Nolan, author of From the Ground Up moved from Chicago's North Shore to a communal farm in search of a less materialistic lifestyle. Learn the keys to maintaining an edible organic garden and the positive impacts of growing your own food.

Watercolor Painting

February 10th,
2:00pm to 4:00pm
$5.00 Learn watercolor painting with step by step instruction. Paint along with Victoria Pelarenos (BFA American Academy of Art), as you learn techniques and create a painting by the end of the class.  Supplies will be provided.
