Kids Write Away Redux

August 30th,

Grades 4-6. Registration Required.

Want to become the next famous author? Come join us for one or all three classes this summer The themes for each class are, "Glorious Genres," "Mesmerizing Introductions," and "Dazzling Dialogue."

Registration begins May 25th for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with valid library cards. Others may register beginning June 1st. Priority for Kids programs goes to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents.

Cut the Cable: Internet Streaming Devices and Apps

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Learn about Roku, Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Chromecast, and other devices that work with your existing TV and internet connection to stream video subscription services such as Netflix, Hulu, and free library resources.

Excel 2016 Series

Mini Comic Con

Artists alley, comic and collectibles vendors, Cosplay 101 panel and costume contest with prizes. New this year-- Anime/Manga Meet-up From Pokemon to Death Note and everything in between with anime/manga inspired art, books and videos for check out, and so much more.

Friends Book Sale

Look for the Friends of the Library in the Book Sale on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month to support the library and find great deals.

Troll Hunt at the Morton Arboretum

September 10th,
9:00am to 3:30pm
$30.00 Journey through the far-reaching forests to find Danish artist Thomas Dambo's six colossal trolls from reclaimed wood. These 15- to 20-foot-tall sculptures are crafted one by one, and each a protector of our environment. The Arboretum tram will carry you through the woods and make stops at each sculpture. Some walking is involved, including some on wood chip paths. Lunch on your own at the Arboretum's Ginko Cafe.

Madame President: the Secret Presidency of Edith Wilson

After President Woodrow Wilson suffered a paralyzing stroke in the fall of 1919, his wife, First Lady Edith Wilson, began to handle the day-to-day responsibilities of the Executive Office in the tenuous peace following the end of World War I. While her role was acknowledged in Washington, today her accomplishments have been largely forgotten. William Hazelgrove will introduce you to Edith Wilson, Madame President.
