Learn the Carvey: Engraved Bookmark

The Carvey machine engraves, carves, or cuts flat materials like wood, plastic, and metal. Learn the basics of the Carvey's software and create a personalized wooden bookmark. Adults and teens 7th grade and up.

Crochet a Ribbed Infinity Cowl

$5.00 - Crochet an infinity cowl to keep you warm until spring arrives.  Yarn, crochet hook, and project guide included. This project is for adults and teens in 7th grade and up with basic crochet skills.

Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Learn how to save your VHS home movies on to DVD.  Save your precious wedding, vacations, and other family memories. Residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights can register on Monday February 3rd, and other residents can register on Monday February 10th.

Lunch and Tour of Eris Brewery and Cider House

$25.00 Set in Irving Park's old Masonic Temple, Eris cidery and brew house stays true to its namesake - Eris, the goddess of chaos who threw a golden apple into the party she wasn't invited to and invited discord. By combining beer and cider Eris  has created an entirely new party in the Chicago area. Tour the brewery and cidery and afterwards order lunch off the menu.

Svengoolie! (and some monster movies)

Svengoolie has been the premier horror show icon of Chicago, since multiple Emmy award winner Rich Koz became the hand-picked successor to the original Svengoolie back in the late '70s. Meet Sven and after a break watch Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein.

Democracy in America: Tea at Hull House with Jane Addams

A crusader for social justice, Jane Addams devoted her life to caring for the underprivileged and oppressed including workers, women and children. Hull House, her center for social work in Chicago, became known as one of the most famous settlement houses in America. In 1931 Addams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Enjoy an afternoon with her as presented by Betsey Means of Womanlore.
