After Hours Awards Viewing Party

Join us in celebrating Hollywood's most glamorous night of the year by watching the Oscar broadcast live at Eisenhower. There will be a trivia contest during the show, as well as prizes and snacks.

Although we will be viewing the awards ceremony, this event is not sponsored by or affiliated with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Advanced Carvey: Acrylic Ruler

Take your Carvey skills to the next level and learn how to use multi-depth cuts and merge shapes. Must have previously attended our Learn the Carvey class to register. Must have a library card and a Workshop waiver on file.

Music in the Morning

Bring your instrument, your voice, or even a CD or LP to share your favorite songs with other music lovers. During the February 11th session, bring your old CDs or LPs for a record swap.

Junior Storytime

Storytimes offer great opportunities for kids in the proper grade range to learn and have fun. Big Kids Storytime is specifically designed for children who are in kindergarten through second grade. 

Priority for Kids World Programs goes to residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights. 

Modern Times Film Series:The Upside

The Modern Times Film series showcases new additions to the library's movie collection. This month's movie will be The Upside.

A comedic look at the relationship between a wealthy man with quadriplegia and an unemployed man with a criminal record who's hired to help him. PG-13. 2h 6m.

Page to Screen Book Club: Beloved

Every month we'll watch a movie and discuss the book from which it was adapted.

This month watch Beloved after reading the classic novel by Toni Morrison. 1998. Rated R. 2h 52m.

Copies of the book will be available at the Library Services Desk approximately one month before the screening.

Battle of the Books

February 12th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Simon & Garfunkel: Sound and Then Silence

With the musicality of The Beatles and the lyricism of Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel were often considered the thinking person's rock 'n' rollers. They were also one of the most successful musical acts of the 1960s. With audio and visual content, music historian Gary Wenstrup traces the arc of Simon & Garfunkel's career.

Preschool Playtime

Ages 3-5 with parent or caregiver. Drop-in.

Play date! Come see what creative fun we are offering for little ones and their caregivers. We'll offer a few engaging pre-literacy activities with a focus on play. Siblings under three or over age five may also participate.

Anonymous Teen Writers

Knitting Mittens in the Round

$5.00 - Winter is here for real and you need to keep your fingers warm. In this four-week class you'll receive all the supplies and instruction to knit your own mittens using the "in-the-round" method. Previous knitting experience is required.
