Mysterious Myanmar

Signposts on the Prairie: A Passport to Where Illinois Began

Along the way, we will encounter "signposts" (historical markers) that recall prehistoric Illinois; early French settlement in the American Bottom; a consequential Revolutionary War campaign; a virtual hike at a National Natural Landmark and more.

Jean Lafitte in Old New Orleans: How a Pirate Helped Save America

Slip back to romantic New Orleans in 1815, a town of wrought-iron galleries, mansard roofs, narrow streets cafés, spiraling staircases and hideaway courtyards. Smell the sweetness of sugarcane, fruits in Gulf-side markets, coffee beans, imported chocolates, faraway scents from incoming ships. Meet the Caribbean pirates who walked its byways, considered by many to be outlaws--but when Britain made an attempt to win back America after the War for Independence Jean Lafitte and his pirates drew their cutlasses and loaded their cannons to defend the country. Joseph Geringer will tell you the whole story.
