The Death Cafe: A Conversation About Death

Over coffee and treats, participate in a conversation about how to make the most of our finite lives. Death Cafe is a discussion group, not a grief support or counseling session.

Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Kids Write Away Redux

Want to become the next famous author? Join us for one or all three classes this summer! The themes for each class are, "Unforgettable Book Titles," "To Prologue or Not to Prologue," and "Memorable First Lines."

Big Kids Storytime

Intro to the Sewing Machine

Learn the basics of the sewing machine. You will learn how to thread the machine, and use a basic stitch.

Bus Trip: Mayslake Peabody Estate

$20.00 - Take a tour of Mayslake Hall, a Tudor Revival style mansion, built in 1921 as the retirement home for Francis Stuyvesant Peabody one of the nation's largest coal magnates. Designed by acclaimed architect Benjamin Marshall, Mayslake Hall stands as a rare surviving example of the magnificent country houses that were built in DuPage County during the Gilded Age. This tour does have stairs and no elevator. Bring money for lunch off the menu at Maggiano's restaurant.

Watercolor Painting

$5.00 - Learn watercolor painting with step by step instruction. Paint along with Victoria Pelarenos as you learn techniques and complete a painting by the end of the class. Supplies will be provided.

Teen Creativity Camp

Where will your artistic skills take you? This summer, create a role playing campaign, design characters, and record the story as a podcast. Throw in some sidewalk chalk drawing, poetry, and photography and you'll have a full week of creativity. For teens in grades 7-12.

Teen Music Club

Music fans of all levels in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out with friends and geek out about music. During each session, we'll talk about music, write songs, learn some instruments, and make recordings in the Workshop studio. Bring your ideas, instruments, and friends.
