Teen Music Club

Music fans of all levels in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out with friends and geek out about music. During each session, we'll talk about music, write songs, learn some instruments, and make recordings in the Workshop studio. Bring your ideas, instruments, and friends.

Copies of the book are available in regular and large type. Loans will also be available in audio and eBook formats. Join us for a lively discussion.

Page to Screen Book Club

Every month we'll watch a movie and discuss the book from which it was adapted. This month's adaptation will be announced soon. Copies of the book will be available at the Library Services Desk approximately one month before the screening.

A Brief Double Feature: The History of Unmentionables

The Death Cafe: A Conversation About Death

Over coffee and treats, participate in a conversation about how to make the most of our finite lives. Death Cafe is a discussion group, not a grief support or counseling session.

House Tour of the Peabody Mansion at Mayslake

July 19th,
8:45am to 2:30pm
$20.00 Mayslake Hall was built in 1921 as the retirement home for Francis Stuyvesant Peabody of Peabody Coal, one of the nation's largest coal producers. Its architect, Benjamin Marshall, was acclaimed for his historical revival designs, and Mayslake Hall is an outstanding example of Tudor Revival architecture. This tour does have stairs and no elevator. Bring money for lunch off the menu at Maggiano's restaurant.

Where will your artistic skills take you? We'll make some short films and write and produce a podcast. Throw in some sidewalk chalk drawing, poetry and photography. For teens aged 13-18.
