Volunteer Fair

Looking for interesting volunteer work and a chance to give back to your community? Come to the library to discover not-for-profit and service organizations that are looking for your help. We are bringing together organizations from the city and suburbs to help you find the perfect volunteer opportunity. By sharing your time and talents you can make a difference in your community. 

Friends Bag Sale!

Look for the Friends of the Library in the Book Sale Room on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month to support the library and find great deals.

At this week's Book Sale, buy a bag for $2.00, and fill it up! Come early for the best selection.

Pen & Paper Tabletop Adventure

Grades 4-6. Registration Required

Grab your pencils and dice. We are going on an adventure without even leaving the library! Each week is a new story with new heroes in this bite size Dungeons and Dragons game.

Kids Knitting

4:45pm to 6:45pm
Grades 4-6. Registration Required

Join us for a beginners knitting class just for kids! Each week will build on different knitting skills to complete a simple project. Registration is for all four days. Class size is limited. This is a Workshop program and waivers must be completed in order to complete registration.

Mystic Drumz Presents: Marshmallow Island

Crochet a Summer Beach Bag

$5.00 - Crochet a bag that can be used for the beach or as a market bag. This project is for those with basic crochet skills. The registration fee covers the cost of yarn, crochet hook, and project guide. This class is for adults and teens in 7th grade and up.

Garden Club Presents: Spring Teas

Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Make a One-String Slide Guitar

3:00pm to 5:00pm
Many blues guitarists including, Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters, first learned to play on homemade one-string guitars. With basic materials, a string, a couple of screws and an Altoids tin, we'll make our own guitars and learn a song or two. All supplies included.

Free Comic Book Day

Get your free comics on Free Comic Book Day, an annual event founded on the belief that for every person out there, there's a comic book they'll love. Visiting artists will be Steph Stanga and Tom Bacon.

MOVED TO AUGUST 17 & 24! Movie Makers Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, learn the art of filmmaking from script to screen. You'll write, shoot, and edit your own incredible mini-movie. We'll provide cameras but you can bring your own if you choose.

Kids Carvey

Grades 4-6 (with an adult) Registration Required

Learn about the new machine in the Workshop! The Carvey is a great tool with endless possibilities for carving, cutting, and engraving wood or plastics. Everyone will have a turn to create their own sample project! Parents are required to assist their children with the machine.

Adult Book Discussion: The Dollhouse

This month's Adult Book Discussion book will be The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis.
