Family Yoga

Join us for Family Yoga! Kids and parents will have this yoga class together. Mats will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own. Waivers are required to complete registration.

Pen and Ink Writers Group

The Pen and Ink Writers Group gathers on the third Monday of each month to read short stories, poems or essays, all inspired by a common theme. Build up your writing skills through practice, presentation and positive critique.

Junior Storytime

Knitting Circle

Kids Carvey

Grades 4-6 (with an adult) Registration Required. Workshop Waivers are required to complete registration.

Learn about the Workshop's Carvey machine. Everyone will have a turn to design, create, and decorate their own sample project! Parents are required to assist their children with the machine.

Chakras and Energy Healing

Chakras are thought to be the body's seven energy centers, representing different emotions and feelings. Melissa Scafidi, a life-long lover of all things new age healing, combines her belief in chakras and energy healing, along with crystals and pendulums, to create a truly unique experience on the journey to knowing yourself better.

Bus Trip: What Is the Midwest? at the Newberry Library

$20.00 - A world-renowned research library since 1887, the Newberry preserves and makes accessible an extensive collection of rare books, maps, music, and manuscripts, spanning more than six centuries. Explore the newly renovated library and view a new exhibit challenging the assumptions, stereotypes, and persistent narratives about the Midwest. Bring money for lunch at Farmhouse Chicago.

Battle of the Books

February 19th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Be Dramatic! Theater Club

Ages 8-12. Registration Required

All the world's a stage...learn how to act in it. In each session we'll perform quick scenes with fellow actors and play some theater games. Join us for one or both classes. The focus for each class is "The Sound of Silence" and "Find your Spirit Animal."

Anonymous Teen Writers

After Hours Teen Time: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Matchbox Cameras

We're keeping the library open after hours just for teens. Bring your friends to watch a movie, eat some pizza, and make a craft.

This month watch as Sky Captain and newspaper photographer Polly Perkins save the world then build your own prop matchbox camera.
