Book A Listener

Registration Required, Ages 12 and under

Readers are invited to read out loud to one of the Kids World librarians for 10-15 minutes in these individual sessions geared for individuals who are not confident readers or for whom additional practice is needed to be at grade level. Please be sure to bring the reader's desired reading material to the session.

Book A Listener registrations always begin the Friday of the week before. Priority for Kids World programs is given to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents.

Urban Exploration

What's in that abandoned building? What's behind that broken wall? Why was this place left to slowly rot away? These are the questions urban explorers are trying to answer. Adam Selzer paints an overview of urban exploration in Chicago.

Registration starts November 6th for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with valid library cards. Others may register beginning November 13th.

Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Eisenhower's Formal Ball
