Preschool Playtime

Play date! Come see what creative fun we are offering for little ones and their caregivers. We'll offer a few engaging pre-literacy activities each week with a focus on play.

Priority for Kids World programs goes to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents. Siblings under 3 or over age 5 may also participate.

Starting to Sew Part 2

Grades 4-6. Registration Required.

This two part class provides basic sewing machine instruction. Each sewer will have a completed project at the end of the second class.

Register at the Kids desk to pick up a copy of the waiver.

Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Book A Listener

Registration Required, Ages 12 and under

Readers are invited to read out loud to one of the Kids World librarians for 10-15 minutes in these individual sessions geared for individuals who are not confident readers or for whom additional practice is needed to be at grade level. Please be sure to bring the reader's desired reading material to the session.

Book A Listener registrations always begin the Friday of the week before. Priority for Kids World programs is given to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents.

Pen and Paper Tabletop Adventure Club

Grab your pencils and dice! We are going on an adventure without even leaving the library! Find the secrets in the tomb of annihilation and see if you can stop the curse in this Dungeons and Dragons adventure. Registration is for all seven weeks.

The Death Cafe: A Conversation About Death

A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

Bus Trip: The Science of Pixar

Musicians of all levels in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out with friends and geek out about music. During each session, we'll talk about music, write songs, learn some instruments, and make recordings in the Workshop studio. Bring your ideas, instruments, and friends.
