Eisenhower Receives Grant to Fund Books for LitWorks 2014

LitWorks 2013 autograph party with teens getting books autographed by the authorsEisenhower Public Library District is the proud recipient of a $5000 Back to Books Grant from the Illinois State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The funds from this grant will be used to buy books for the fifth annual LitWorks events in 2014. LitWorks 2013 was a huge success and LitWorks 2014 looks to be even more amazing.

LitWorks: a Teen READ Event, a joint project between Eisenhower Public Library District and Ridgewood High School, gives teens a chance to meet with some of their favorite authors for a full day of events which take place both at the library and at the high school. The 2014 event will take place on Saturday, April 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It begins at the library with an open author panel and then moves to the school for small group breakout sessions and an autograph party. Confirmed authors for LitWorks 2014 include Jack Gantos, Marie Lu, and Dave Roman.  Other authors will be announced soon.

The Back to Books Grant will allow the library to purchase multiple copies of LitWorks books, as well as books on CD for all of the authors who will participate. Look for LitWorks 2014 books in the Teen section of the library starting in October of 2013.
