PATRON SELF-RENEWAL


VIA THE INTERNET:
Accessible from: the Eisenhower Library Web Page: http://www.eisenhowerlibrary.org
                      or: the SWAN (Metropolitan Library System) Online Catalog: http://swan.lib.il.us

To renew items click on the "Check Your Record" Option.

Enter your name, barcode, and pin and click on the "Display record for person named above" gray bar.

From the patron record, click on the "Item(s) currently checked out" gray bar.

Screen will display list of checked out items.

If you have many items checked out with different due dates it will simplify your renewal if you click on the "Sort by due date" gray bar.

THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO RENEW ITEMS
1) To renew all items, click on the "Renew All" button
2) To renew a single item or selected items, click on the box in the "Renew" column to the left of each title and then click on the "Renew Selected Items" bar.

IF YOUR LIBRARY CARD: has expired, has fines, is blocked
       OR
IF THE ITEM(S) YOU ARE RENEWING: has a hold, has been renewed too many times, is overdue

YOU WILL RECEIVE A MESSAGE TELLING YOU WHY THE RENEWAL WAS NOT ALLOWED.

IF THE RENEWAL WAS SUCCESSFUL: the "Status" column will display the original due date with the word RENEWED alongside it. The words Now due along with the new due date will display under the original due date.

EXAMPLE:  DUE 1-16-08 RENEWED
                  Now due 1-30-08

Please write the new due date on the date due card located in the pocket of the material OR if the material is from another library and has a gold paper band around it, please cross out the original due date located on top of the gold band on the date due line, and write the new due date above or next to the crossed out due date.

VIA THE ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG:
Accessible from the library public access computers.

From the main menu select c>: View your own circulation record.

Your name: Type your name, then hit return.

Barcode: Type the barcode number on your library card, then hit return.

Enter your PIN: Type the pin you use when accessing your record.

Select c>: Display checked out items.

Select S>: Sort by due date (if you have items with different due dates, this will simplify your renewal)

If you have too many checkouts to fit on one screen: Select D> Display more items.
This will display up to 15 items per page

After you know which items you want to renew select R>: RENEW items

Which items? (1- ): enter the number(s) of the item(s) you want to renew
Example: 1,3,7 then press return Example: 1-14 then press return

(If you're not sure of the numbers and want to see the list again, press the Esc key to return to your list of checked out items)

If your items were renewed successfully the new due date will display in the status field.
If your items were not renewed, the reason for not renewing will display.
